PRIVACY POLICY  

PAL does not share or sell personal information collected in our facility or via www.portlandapparellab.com. For information on cookies and other privacy information please click here.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

You can pay for appointments, classes, and events at portlandapparellab.com with confidence. We have partnered with Stripe, a leading payment gateway, to accept credit cards and electronic check payments safely and securely for our customers. The Stripe Payment Gateway manages the complex routing of sensitive customer information through the electronic check and credit card processing networks.

The company adheres to strict industry standards for payment processing, including 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology for secure Internet Protocol (IP) transactions, industry leading encryption hardware and software methods and security protocols to protect customer information and compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

A 10% processing fee will be assessed for all cancelled or rescheduled individual class registrations.

Although we make best effort to accommodate any late-notice cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, PAL cannot be responsible for giving refunds for classes, workshops, or other programming missed due to illness, emergencies, or events beyond our control with less than 72 hour notice.

PAL reserves the right to cancel programming at any time and will notify students via email and/or phone. In the case of a class cancellation, PAL will notify class attendees no less than 24 hours before the scheduled class. In the rare event of an PAL-initiated cancellation, a full refund or credit will be issued.

OTHER POLICIES

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY   PAL does not discriminate on the basis of race, age, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression.

AGE POLICY   Unless otherwise specified, PAL classes and Open Studio are open to anyone 18+.  Youth 16-17 may attend after a legal guardian has met with an PAL staff member and signed a liability waiver.  Youth ages 10-15 may attend with an adult and a waiver signed by a legal guardian.

DAMAGES   If the entirety or any part of PAL equipment are damaged due to a PAL Attendee negligent actions that are in clear violation of the Safety Orientation Agreement, PAL reserves the right to bill said PAL Member the market price of the damaged equipment plus labor.

PHOTO RELEASE   Individuals consent that PAL has full and unrestricted publishing and use rights for any photographs (digital or print) taken on the PAL property by PAL employees or volunteers in which any image, materials or art, either brought in to or created/generated at PAL, appears.

WEAPONS   PAL does not allow any weapons on the premises, this includes weapons covered under a Concealed Weapons Permit.

STORAGE POLICY   Projects or materials may be left up to 72 hours (3 days) at PAL with the permission of an PAL staff member providing they are stored in an out of the way location with a full name, date it will be removed, and a phone number of the project owner.  Unlabeled items left on the premises for more than 72 hours or after membership expires will be removed. PAL makes a best effort to notify people before material/projects are seized, we cannot be held responsible for any item left at PAL under any circumstance. Longer term storage may be available upon request.

CONDUCT   While in PAL facilities, PAL does not permit and will not tolerate any inappropriate conduct. Such conduct includes, without limitation, using loud, abusive, offensive, insulting, demeaning language, profanity, lewd conduct or any conduct that harasses or is bothersome to members, guests, or PAL employees.

APPROPRIATE USE   Tools and machines are to be used for their intended purpose only. Currently, all sewing machines and tools are for use on apparel-weight materials only. Heavyweight leather, heavyweight canvas or denim, and heavy upholstery fabrics are not permitted on PAL machines at this time.

VIOLATION OF POLICIES OR RULES   If any client or guest violates any of the Policies, PAL will ask that person to stop or leave. A client’s violation of any of the Policies may also cause PAL in its sole discretion, to terminate that person’s relationship with PAL and/or other agreements.

PRODUCTION    PAL does not provide Open Studio access for production scale fabrication. At the discretion of PAL and its staff, any users viewed as doing large scale production work during Open Studio that uses resources above and beyond day use in any of the PAL shops will be notified to stop production, and studio time will be cancelled and any associated fees relating to production may be charged to said member’s account.

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

EXAMPLE OF NEW USER ORIENTATION/LIABILITY WAIVER TO SIGN PRIOR TO USING OUR OPEN STUDIO:

I, _______________________________ (Print Name) HAVE TAKEN THE SAFETY ORIENTATION AND UNDERSTAND SAFETY GUIDELINES AT THE PORTLAND APPAREL LAB (PAL) AS EVIDENCED BY MY SIGNATURE BELOW. I understand that my agreement to abide by these safety guidelines is in addition to the terms of my membership and the safety guidelines detailed herein are incorporated by reference into the Membership Agreement:

  • I recognize that I am responsible for understanding and practicing the shop safety guidelines, both for general shop use as well as for the specific machines and tools I intend to use for my project(s).

  • I have taken the Safety Orientation deemed prerequisite by PAL staff for working in any of the shops and with their tools and machinery. I will immediately advise a PAL employee or Shop Steward of any dangerous or unsafe condition or behavior observed in any PAL facility and will not continue my use of the PAL facility until the condition is made safe.

  • I recognize that the use of sewing machines and industrial sewing equipment can sometimes result in personal injury or damage to materials.

  • I understand the use or possession of alcohol and/or physically impairing or illegal drugs is considered reckless endangerment by my person and is not allowed in the shop or during classes of PAL under any circumstances and that if in violation, I may be subject to removal from the premises by PAL staff.

  • I understand that by signing this Safety Orientation Training Acknowledgement and Liability Waiver, I agree to expressly release PAL, its employees, owners, and agents from all liability to me or my successors and assigns for and from any and all claims, including those arising from the negligence of PAL, losses, and damages on account of any injury to me or damage to my property in connection with facility use. I knowingly waive any such claims, losses, and damages arising from and including, but not limited to, acts and omissions arising from breach of contract, fraud, willful misconduct, bad faith, negligence, or claims grounded in equity.

  • I understand that PAL retains the right to revoke my membership at any time at management’s sole discretion and with no right to a refund.
